Dr. Harold B. Reiter, University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Math Zoom Summer Camp Faculty since 2007. Dr. Harold B. Reiter is a Professor of Mathematics at UNCC. He chaired the American Mathematics Competitions AHSME Committee from 1993 to 2000. He has been the state director of the AMC for North Carolina since 1979. |
 Dr. Paul Dreyer, RAND Corporation. Math Zoom Year Round and Summer Camp Faculty since 2007. Dr. Paul Dreyer is a mathematician at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, CA. At RAND, Dr. Dreyer uses mathematical modeling techniques on a wide variety of military, energy, and security issues. He received his Ph.D in mathematics from Rutgers University in 2000, writing his dissertation on the applications of graph theory to problems in facilities placement, modeling opinion formulation in groups, and methods to speed up searches through protein sequence databases. In addition to his work at RAND, Dr. Dreyer serves as the Western Site Coordinator for the American Regions Mathematics League, a national math contest for high school students, and also serves on the question writing committee. Dr. Dreyer has taught courses in the electrical engineering department at UCLA and is also a professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School, teaching a mathematics course for public policy students. Dr Dreyer also teaches at Math Zoom Year-round programs. Back to Top |
 Kelly Ren, Math Zoom Academy and Kiddie Techie. Faculty since 2007. Kelly Ren is the Program Director and Math Coach at Math Zoom Academy. Ms. Ren has a B.S. degree in Physics, and a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Her professional career began as a design engineer at IBM. Her visionary and leadership skills led her to positions in business and management in high tech, software and financial services companies. Ms. Ren discovered her passion in human development and education, after the birth of her daughter. Along with Dr. Wang, she started a technology based enrichment program called Kiddie Techie, which rapidly grew to become a successful program in schools, school districts and community enrichment programs in Southern California. Along with her responsibilities as Program Director of Math Zoom Academy, Ms. Ren began teaching Math Zoom courses after substituting for Dr. Wang and realized her true calling in working and engaging the interests of younger students. Her logical and clear instruction left both parents and students wanting to come back and learn more. Back to Top |
 Sean Markan, Freelance instructor. Math Zoom Summer Camp Coach since 2008. Mr. Markan participated in numerous math and science programs in high school, including the USAMO in 2001 (received Honorable Mention), the Math Olympiad Summer Program in 2001 and the US Physics Olympiad Team in 2000 and 2002. He graduated from MIT with a degree in physics in 2006. He enjoys playing piano, ultimate frisbee, and of course math. Back to Top |

Dr. Boyd Blackburn is the LEAP math teacher, math department chair, and MathCounts coach at Smith Middle School in Chapel Hill, NC. LEAP is a district-level program for highly gifted students. His students have done very well in recent math competitions including several perfect scores on the AMC8 and the individual state champion in MathCounts. He has a PhD in Cognitive Psychology (specializing in problem solving) from the University of Toronto. With Jason Batterson, he founded and directed the AGMath Camp at the North Carolina School of Science and Math in July, 2009. |

Jason Batterson, Author of math contest books, math teacher at Ligon Middle school, a magnet in Raleigh, NC with a historically strong math program. Mr. Batterson graduated from the University of Virginia with his BS in Architecture in 1998. He left architecture three years later to teach math at Ligon Middle school, a magnet in Raleigh, NC with a historically strong math program. He began taking a major role in coaching the math team with Mr. Rohan Lewis in 2007. Ligon won the state MATHCOUNTS competition in 2008 and 2009. In 2008, Mr. Batterson started AGMath.com, a web site dedicated to advanced middle-school math instruction and competition preparation. He was awarded the Edyth May Sliffe Award from the MAA in 2009 for distinguished instruction in mathematics. Mr. Batterson is the author of "Competition Math for Middle School" which was published in 2009. He now coaches both of the magnet middle school competition programs in Raleigh, NC. |

Archie Benton. Mr. Benton has a BA degree in Psychology, BS in Mathematics, and MAE degree in Mathematics Education. He is the head coach of the North Carolina ARML team. Mr. Benton has 21 years experience as the math team coach at North Buncombe HS. He is a State Math Contest Committee member, State Sprints Contest Director, Author of the Educaide Geometry Database, Teacher Consultant for "Discovering Geometry" 2nd Edition. He is a AMC problem review panelist The BC Math League creator, and also an instructor at the NC Math Coaches Institute Summer 2008. |

He currently serves on the College Board’s College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) Pre Calculus Mathematics Committee; chairs the MAA’s Edith May Sliffe Award Committee. He is a former chair and member of the MATHCOUNTS Question Writing Committee; former member of AIME and USAMO committees, former chair of SAT II Test Development Committee with ETS; Numerous other awards, honors, and publications. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Clemson University. 
Math professor at Chapman University. Dr. Vajiac had a long history of participating math contests when she went to middle school and high school, won various prizes at the National Contests and Olympiads in Mathematics in Romania. Dr. Vajiac has a PhD in Mathematics from Boston University, specializing in Differential Geometry, Algebraic Topology, Algebraic Geometry, Symplectic Geometry, Intergrable Systems and Geometruic PDEs.
