The Math Zoom Difference

The Academic Curriculum is geared towards preparing students for mathematics contests, such as AMC 8/10/12, AIME, ARML, MATHCOUNTS, USAMO (USA Math Olympiad), and IMO (International Math Olympiad). Students gain greater interest in Math, better skills in problem solving and critical thinking, and more confidence in facing academic challenges. With an outstanding performance in one or more of these contests, students will gain considerable recognitions in their college applications.

Communication and Leadership Development: The setup of the programs encourages student participation, helps improve communication and leadership skills. Confidence sparkles when students talk about the subjects they are really interested, with the peers who share the same interest. With the guidance of the experienced coaches, students learn how to effectively articulate their thinking processes. Students are trained to become better leaders and communicators in the field they are good at.

The Evening Seminars focus on introduction to advanced mathematics topics, preview of Math related college majors and professional careers.

Entry Level Program: This year we once again have an entry level program for students who have the aptitude in Math and interested in more challenges but haven’t had opportunities to shine in any contests. These students will be admitted based on a strong recommendation from a Math teacher or mentor, and a strong parent statement detailing the student’s Math talents, grades in school, and positive attitude towards aiming higher in order to reaching one’s potential to the fullest. The assessment test is used for placement only in the Entry Level Program.

Overall, this program is for future leaders in all fields that require strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

When and Where

There are two camp sites in 2012.

The eastern site will be at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY from June 24 to July 14, 2012. Due to the Independence Day holiday falls in the middle of the camp, the breaks may be altered so they may not match the regular weekends. All campers are required to stay through the entire camp to keep up with the programs and fully appreciate the camp experience.

The western site will be at California State University in Fullerton, California (Orange County), from July 22 through August 11, 2012. This is a weekday overnight camp. The programs during the week will be intensive. Students have the option to go home on weekends to relax and spend time with their families and/or relatives, or stay on campus with our camp counselors for fun and relaxing activities. We usually take one field trip on each weekend.  We go to exciting local attractions such as a theme park like Disneyland, Universal Studios or another park and a beach. There is an additional fee for weekend stay.
