Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I come to the Math Zoom Summer Camp 2010?

Math Zoom Summer Camp offers an opportunity for bright and mathematically gifted students to expand their mathematical horizons, improve problem solving skills, and explore areas in advanced mathematics.

The Academic Curriculum is geared towards preparing students for advanced mathematical contests. Our students gain a greater interest in math, better skills in problem solving, and more confidence in facing academic challenges.  By reaching their highest potential and achieve outstanding performance at one or more of these contests, students will achieve a considerable opportunity for college admission officers to recognize them on their college applications.

Communication and Leadership Development is also a focus of our program.  The set-up of the program encourages student participation and helps to improve communication and leadership skills. Confidence sparkles when students talk about subjects they enjoy with peers who share the same interest. Guided by experienced coaches, students learn how to effectively articulate the thinking process. Students are trained to become better leaders and communicators in the field they most enjoy.

Evening Seminars focus on the introduction to advanced mathematical topics and will introduce students to math related college majors and professional careers.

Class Sizes are small with approximately 15 students who are able to work closely with the coaches for personalized coaching.

Future Leaders are what our campers want to be no matter what career path they eventually choose to take.

Where and when will the Math Zoom Summer Camp be held?

There are two camp sites in 2010.

The western site will be at Harvey Mudd College at Claremont, California (East Los Angeles area), from July 25 through August 14, 2010. This is a weekday overnight camp. The programs during the week will be intensive. Students have the option to go home on weekends to relax and spend time with their families and/or relatives, or stay on campus with our camp counselors for fun and relaxing activities. We usually take one field trip on each weekend.  We go to exciting local attractions such as a theme park like Disneyland or another park and a beach. There is an additional fee for weekend stay.

The eastern site will be at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte from July 11th to 24. Since there are total two weeks, all campers are required to stay through the entire camp to fully appreciate the camp experience.
