Dr. Kevin Wang, Founding Director and Head Coach. Dr. Wang is the founder of the Math Zoom Academy. He is in charge of the academic program design, curriculum development, contest problem writing, faculty member recruitment and communication, and all other teaching related affairs. Dr. Kevin Wang was a member of the very first Chinese IMO Team in 1985, which pioneered the glorious history of China Team’s top performance in IMO. Dr. Wang was the top scorer in Beijing, China in AHSME and AIME 1985, and the winner of multiple national & international contests in math and science in China. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University, and worked as Assistant Professor andResearcher in Mathematics at UC Irvine and UCLA from 1997 to 1999. Dr. Wang also has broad experiences in industry, working at technology and media corporations such as Oracle and News Corp. Dr. Wang was invited to teach at the MOSP (Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program) in 2007. The MOSP is an all-expense-paid program, and only the top 50 participants of the USAMO are chosen to attend. The 6 members of the IMO team for USA are selected from MOSP participants.

Dr. Harold B. Reiter, Director of Teacher’s Institute, Summer Camp Faculty. Dr. Reiter is in charge of the Teacher’s Institute at Math Zoom Academy. He is responsible for the program design, teacher’s recruitment, funding the teacher’s training and stipend. He also assists in the faculty member recruitment, on-site sponsorship of the Math Zoom summer camp at UNCC. Dr. Harold B. Reiter is a Professor of Mathematics at UNCC. He chaired the American Mathematics Competitions AHSME Committee from 1993 to 2000. He has been the state director of the AMC for North Carolina since 1979. He currently serves on the College Board’s College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) Pre Calculus Mathematics Committee; chairs the MAA’s Edith May Sliffe Award Committee. He is a former chair and member of the MATHCOUNTS Question Writing Committee; former member of AIME and USAMO committees, former chair of SAT II Test Development Committee with ETS; Numerous other awards, honors, and publications. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Clemson University.

Kelly Ren, Program Director. Ms. Ren has a B.S. degree in Physics, and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Her professional career began as a design engineer at IBM. Her visionary and leadership skills led her to positions in business and management in high tech, software and financial services companies. Ms. Ren discovered her passion in human development and education, after the birth of her daughter. Along with Dr. Wang, she started a technology based enrichment program called Kiddie Techie, which rapidly grew to become a successful program in schools, school districts and community enrichment programs in the Los Angeles/ Orange County/San Diego, California area. Along with her responsibilities as Administrative Director of Math Zoom Academy, Ms. Ren began teaching Math Zoom courses after substituting for Dr. Wang and realized her true calling in working and engaging the interests of younger students. Her logical and clear instruction left both parents and students wanting to come back and learn more.
